Cell death-inducing DFFA-like effector protein C (CIDEC) is localized on the surface of lipid droplets. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 6. CIDEC is also involved in lipid storage and it modulates the size of lipid droplets. The protein has been linked to obesity.
