Syntaxin 17 (Stx17) is an autophagosomal SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) protein. STX17 is a member of the syntaxin family and is located on human chromosome 9q31. It is stored in the cytosol. It may function as a receptor at the ER membrane that is involved in the trafficking between the ER and post-ER compartments. It cycles between ER and ERGIC via pathways involving COPII and COPI (coatomer protein I) vesicle. The protein is required for the maintenance of ERGIC and Golgi architecture.
