Bromothymol Blue, Water Soluble, Reagent, ACS is used as an acid-base indicator, a color marker and a dye. As a dye, at neutral pH, it absorbs red light most strongly and transmits blue light. Solutions of the dye therefore are blue. At low pH, the dye appears yellow in solution. As an ACS grade quality reagent, its chemical specifications are the de facto standards for chemicals used in many high-purity applications and typically designate the highest quality chemical available for laboratory use.
