The ESR MicroSed™ Closed System provides a fast, safe, and highly reliable method for performing Westergren ESR determinations while minimizing operator exposure. Designed as a fully integrated, closed ESR solution, it combines a precision-molded pipette with a prefilled citrate tube to deliver consistent results and maximum protection in the laboratory.
The MicroSed™ pipette, manufactured from high-clarity polystyrene, is graduated from 0 to 180 mm and features a built-in fibrous safety barrier located at the zero mark. This barrier functions as an effective self-sealing aerosol block, preventing hazardous droplets or contaminants from escaping the upper end of the pipette during use.
Each polypropylene citrate tube includes a pierceable, resealable rubber stopper and is pre-filled with 0.25 mL of 3.8% trisodium citrate. The tube is designed for direct insertion of the pipette once 1.0 mL of EDTA-treated blood is added, automatically achieving the proper 1:4 dilution ratio required for the Westergren method. The closed system eliminates splashing, spraying, and air bubble formation, ensuring a clean, controlled, and contamination-free workflow.
Engineered for convenience and accuracy, the MicroSed™ Closed System is an excellent choice for laboratories seeking improved safety, simplified ESR setup, and dependable, reproducible test results.
