Ethidium Bromide (EtBr) is a fluorescent nucleic acid stain supplied as an orange to red crystalline powder. It is widely used in molecular biology for the detection of DNA and RNA.

In laboratory applications, Ethidium Bromide intercalates between nucleic acid base pairs and fluoresces under ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing visualization of DNA or RNA bands in agarose or polyacrylamide gels following electrophoresis. It is commonly used in gel staining protocols for qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of nucleic acids.
