Ethylamine, also known as ethanamine is commonly employed as a precursor in the synthesis of organic compounds. It is a corrosive primary amine, which is found naturally in many vegetables and fruits. It is also present as a constituent of tobacco smoke. Ethylamine is known to affect the lungs and kidney when a person is exposed to it. Ethylamine can be used as a reagent: • In the hydroamination reaction to prepare ethylamine derivatives by addition reaction with alkynes using the Ind₂TiMe₂ catalyst. •To prepare Schiff base ligands, which are reacted with various metal cations to obtain mono- or binuclear ethylamine metal complexes. •To synthesize ethylamine-modified montmorillonite, which is used as a novel material for the removal of radiocesium from radioactive wastewater.
