Formamide, Deionized, Ultrapure - Spectrum offers highly pure reagents suitable for biochemical research and analysis. The critical parameters involved are absence of inhibitors such as traces of heavy metals as well as biochemical function tests for enzymes, coenzymes and enzyme substrates. It is used as a RNA stabilizer in gel electrophoresis by deionizing RNA, in capillary electrophoresis to stabilize (single) strands of denatured DNA and as a constituent of cryoprotectant vitrification mixtures used for cryopreservation of tissues and organs.
