Gel Breaker Tubes – Spin Columns with 600µm Pores, 200/pk

Gel Crusher™ Spin Columns are high-performance gel breaker tubes designed to simplify and accelerate gel fragmentation workflows. As a high-throughput alternative to traditional options like IST Engineering’s gel breaker tubes, these spin columns feature ten 600 µm filtration pores that quickly break down agarose or acrylamide gels during centrifugation.

Each column fits securely into standard 2 mL microcentrifuge tubes. Simply load a gel slice into the column, insert into a 2 mL receiver tube, and centrifuge at maximum speed (approximately 15,000×g) for five minutes. The gel is forced through the large pores, producing uniform fragments that are easily pipettable using wide-bore tips.

Compared to standard 10 µm gel breaker tubes, this design significantly reduces clogging and processing time. The resulting gel fragments absorb buffer more quickly, leading to improved nucleic acid recovery and more efficient workflows.
