For the recovery of Enterococci in water samples using membrane filter technique along with Esculin Iron Agar for the identification. Suspend 71.4 g in 1 litre distilled water. Boil to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 45°C and aseptically add 15 ml of sterile 1% TTC Solution Cat. No. No. 17779). Mix well and pour into sterile petri plates. Warning: Cycloheximide is very toxic. Avoid skin contact or aerosol formation and inhalation. The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
