Mouse IL6 ELISA Kit, 96 TESTS

Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response and plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells. IL-6 is involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation and IL-6 induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth as well as nerve cell differentiation. B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells, and cells of the CNS are all responsive to IL-6. In this ELISA kit, an IL6-specific antibody has been pre-coated onto 96-well plates and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells and subsequently an IL6-specific biotinylated detection antibody is added and followed by washing with wash buffer. Afterward, Streptavidin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. TMB is then used to visualize Streptavidin-Peroxidase enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by Streptavidin-Peroxidase to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of IL6 captured in the plate.
