Paraformaldehyde, Purified is the smallest polyoxymethylene and typically has an odor similar to formaldehyde due to decomposition. It is also a polyacetal and forms slowly in aqueous formaldehyde solutions as a white precipitate. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
