Potassium nitrate can find applications as an oxidizer, which can be prepared by combining ammonium nitrate and potassium hydroxide under hot conditions. Potassium nitrate may be employed for the following studies: •Preparation of gun powder, ceramics, glass, dyeing and printing.1 •As oxidizing agent in the fireworks.1 •Preparation of potassium nitrite.1 •As desensitizing agent for tooth hypersensitivity. •As phase change material for the preparation of nanofluids with phase change behavior.
