The opaque white color wells can offer a significant advantages. They prevent light from escaping through the sides of the opaque wells, increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. This better signal-to-noise ratio is critical when amplifying and detecting a signal from low concentration samples. The opaque wells also eliminate any potential bleed-through into neighboring wells.

This plate exhibits shorter wells than our standard profile (0.2mL) plate. The 0.1mL sized well on this plate decreases "dead space" between the heated lid of the thermal cycler and the sample. This eliminates condensation on the side wall of the tube, preventing reduction in PCR volume and increasing the efficiency of the reaction. These low profile products are especially recommended for use with reaction volumes below 20μL. They are available in a white (PCZ96) and clear (PCY96) colors and are compatible with standard multichannel pipettes.
