Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, Ultrapure, more commonly referred to as TRIS or TRISMAT is largely used in molecular biology and biochemistry especially for solutions of nucleic acids. It is used as a buffer for a range of 7 to 9 and coincides with the pH of most living organisms.
